You know Will Smith (who is finally starting to look maybe… 30?) is going to be great. You know Tommy Lee Jones (who makes Will look young, back to, like, 28) is going to be great. And Josh Brolin and Emma Thompson, also great. But did you know that Jemaine Clement was going to be great?
If you don’t recognize the name, don’t feel too bad, he’s New Zealandish. No, that’s not right. New Zealandy? OK, if someone asks, “Hey, Jemaine, how come there’s no ‘r’ in your name, and where’s that accent from?” He’d answer: New Zealand. You may recognize him from Flight of the Conchords, which is terrific, but really didn’t suggest that he’d make such a good alien antagonist. I’m not sure how you can tell who’d make a good alien antagonist, or if it’s a huge compliment to know a casting agent saw you with your teeth filed into individual menacing arches and some kind of goggles screwed into your eye sockets and a palm that opened up and… but perhaps I’ve said too much. See for yourself if he isn’t funny/scary/great as the other guys.

OMGsh! I admit I didn’t pay close attention to the credits, but I assumed (shouldn’t do that) Boris was played by Tim Curry! :-) I liked this installment in the franchise that is MIB. It gave more character background and insight. Thought the ending was sweet.
Dan's Son on May 29th, 2012 4:40 pmHe was also great as the voice of the bad guy in Rio. It makes this casting less out-of-the-blue-ish. Out-of-the-blue-y? If you asked the casting director, he would say it was not out of the blue.
