Go to the “Select Author” bar, scroll down and click on “Dee Ann.” Read the page that comes up. At the bottom, click “Older Posts” and read that page, too. Then do that again and read the third page.
Now you know a little bit about Dee Ann Stewart. But you don’t know about how she came to Shoebox 18 years ago all young, fresh-faced and confident. You don’t know that she came here as Dan’s little sister, and almost immediately became a sister to us all. You don’t know how she made us laugh out loud every day. Or how we watched in awe as she stared brain cancer straight in the eye and kicked its butt.
For a year or so after that Dee Ann wore hats to work every day. Fashionable hats. Dee Ann had style.
She died yesterday, after a brief, sudden illness.
On November 21, this is the Quote of the Day Dee Ann wrote for this blog:
“LIVE LIKE YOUR CAPS LOCK BUTTON IS JAMMED.”
That’s gonna be a lot more difficult without you around, Pal.

Dee Ann was funny! Not pretend funny but the kind that’s like a birthmark. She just had it. I didn’t get to work with her much but I did read a lot of her jokes. I’ll miss you Dee Ann.

I’ve loved Dee Ann’s work from the day I first discovered this blog. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Be strong, and don’t forget to laugh. I’m sure she would want it that way.

Stace on January 6th, 2009 2:57 pmShe was maybe the funniest tough person I ever knew. Or the toughest funny person. And posting a comment about her in the past tense really just effing sucks. I have nothing smart to say. I’m all weepy again.
Stace on January 6th, 2009 3:05 pmPS Dee Ann sorry for the implied cursing.

Trish Berrong on January 10th, 2009 1:29 amDee Ann wrote smart, funny, brunette girl stuff better than anyone. Because she was one. She was Tina Fey before Tina Fey was Sarah Palin.
Jennifer Plecas on January 18th, 2009 8:06 pmWas stunned and saddened to hear this–my heart goes out to Dee Ann’s family, friends and colleagues.

When she posted this a year or so ago, it made my day. I printed it and hung it on my office wall-
Things That Are Kinda Cool
by Dee Ann
• Peeling dried glue off your hands
• Dropping a bag of ice to loosen the cubes
• Fiding two animal crackers in a dirty position
• Wearing Bugles on your fingers
Awesome.
Thomas R. Besch on June 12th, 2010 2:53 pmDear friends and family of Dee Ann, dear Dan, dear Shawn;
My name is Thomas Besch and as a Frenchman learning to fly in Olathe, I got to know Dee Ann and Shawn then their children Eileen and Michael from the 90′s and on. I was also introduced to her brother Dan especially when he met my wife Samantha Kramer.
I have difficulties to understand that Dee Ann is deceased: I knew she had health problem in the year 2001. Is this the outcome? Could a friend, a family member or her brother Dan tell me what happened? Here is my email: besch.thomas@yahoo.fr
I am extremely saddened by this loss. Toutes mes condoléances à sa famille, son mari, ses enfants, ses ami(e)s et collègues de travail.
I will grieve.
Thomas
